Jingjing Yao To Present Talk May 11

Jingjing Yao, a PhD candidate at New Jersey Institute of Technology, will present a talk May 11 at 3 p.m.

In her talk, “Intelligent and Secure Fog-Aided Internet of Drones,” Yao discusses the utilization of energy harvesting technology to charge drone batteries and investigate wireless power control to adjust the drone wireless transmission power to reduce drone energy consumption.

Yao’s research interests include Internet of Things, Internet of Drones, deep reinforcement learning, federated learning, cybersecurity, mobile edge computing/caching, and energy harvesting.

All-GLIAC Soccer Honorees Announced

The Michigan Tech soccer team had four players earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition Saturday, announced by the conference office. 

Brooke Schauer, Neve Badalow and Grace Shaw were all named All-GLIAC second team. Jesse Jacobusse earned an honorable mention.

Reminders

Fill Out the COVID-19 Symptom Monitoring Form Before Coming to Campus

If you are working on campus while the University is at Health Safety Level Three, remember that no one is permitted to come to campus with symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Employees are required to monitor for symptoms daily before coming to campus using the Daily Symptom Monitoring Form.

The Childcare Support Committee within the Graduate Student Government of Michigan Tech has just finished developing their final report with recommendations to increase resources and support for Michigan Tech community members who care for children.

Professor emerita Mary Durfee (SS) recently gave a keynote talk, titled "Three Hegemonies and US-Canada Water," at the Conference on Transboundary Waters and International Relations.

The virtual conference was organized and hosted by Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest, Hungary.

Shan Zhou (SS) published an article, entitled "Migrant workers and environmental amenities and infrastructure in urban China: from the lens of environmental justice," in the Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning.

The article argues that the household registration system in China, which creates pronounced institutional discrimination against and unfavorable social characterization of migrant workers, is a critical while often overlooked contributor to environmental injustice in contemporary urban China.
