McNair, MICUP Presenting Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Michigan Tech McNair Scholars Program and Michigan College and University Partnership (MICUP) Scholars Program invite you to our Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium next Friday, June 20, from 1-4 p.m. at the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.

This summer's symposium showcases innovative research projects by students from across campus, including participants in McNair and MICUP, as well as the University's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) and Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs.

Join us for an afternoon of engaging presentations, discussions, and a celebration of undergraduate research in diverse fields. This is a free event, open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

Upcoming University Images Closure

Due to essential repairs to the Student Development Complex's main water line, the SDC will be closed on June 21 and June 22. As a result, University Images will also be closed during this time.

The Campus Store will remain open with adjusted weekend hours:

  • Saturday, June 21, from 12-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

University Images will reopen at 10 a.m. on June 23, and we will resume regular summer hours at that time.

Huskies Mourn Passing of Ted Kearly

Ted Kearly, former Michigan Tech athletic director and head football coach, passed away on Sunday, June 8, at the age of 93. He served the University as AD for 17 years and head coach for four seasons.

Kearly guided the football team from 1969-72 and compiled a remarkable 29-7 (.806) record. During his tenure, the Huskies won three Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles and went undefeated at 6-0 in 1972.

Kearly took over as athletic director following the 1972 football season and spent 17 successful years in the position. Kearly guided the start of women's athletics into Tech's programs, founded the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame, and saved the University's football program when the budget was cut by 76% in 1980.
