Learning Session for Cayuse Sponsored Projects Approvers

The Sponsored Operations Office invites those with approver roles in the Cayuse Sponsored Projects module to participate in our upcoming Zoom learning session.

Users with a department-level or special teams approver role are the targeted audience. We will start with a quick high-level tour of the Cayuse Sponsored Projects module, then discuss the approver roles and how they are assigned and managed, highlight the steps for approving a proposal or award, share the available resources, and address your questions.

Join us via Zoom on Wednesday, May 14, from noon to 12:45 p.m. ET. Those who register will receive an email with the Zoom link prior to the session.

Nominations Open for 2025 CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award

Nominations are now open for the 2025 Council of Graduate Schools (CGS)/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award. Please submit nominations to the Graduate School no later than 4 p.m. on May 28, following our online instructions.

This year, nominations are being accepted from dissertations in the fields of:

  • Biological and Life Sciences
  • Humanities and Fine Arts

Michigan Tech may nominate one student in each field. Ph.D. students who have completed all of their degree requirements between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2025, are eligible. The fields of competition for 2026 will be Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Engineering; and Social Sciences.

A nomination packet must be submitted by the department chair or college dean to our CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Nomination form no later than 4 p.m. on May 28.

Professional Portrait Appointments Available with UMC

To better meet campus community members' needs for professional portraits, University Marketing and Communications has opened weekly appointments for Michigan Tech faculty, staff and graduate students to schedule a five-minute headshot-style portrait session with the UMC Studio team.

This summer, appointments are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. in the UMC Studio, located in Admin G37.

Reminder

Network Upgrade on Sunday

On Sunday, May 11, starting at 9 a.m., Michigan Tech IT will begin upgrading the network switch operating systems across campus. Each building, including residential buildings, will experience up to 30 minutes of downtime as upgrades are completed and switches rebooted.

During this time, phone service, internet and Wi-Fi will be unavailable for up to 30 minutes in affected buildings. IT will work building by building until the upgrades are complete.
