Huskies Plaza is Here!

MTU_5757

The boulder was placed. Engraved pavers were set. Lighting and landscaping were installed. And now, the hallmark centerpiece of the new Huskies Plaza—the Husky Statue—is in place.

After a year of planning, Huskies Plaza was officially dedicated on Monday, October 13 with nearly 1,000 people in attendance. Students are already enjoying the space, which is envisioned as the focal point and gateway for Alumni Way.

We couldn’t be more thankful to the people who made this dream a reality: the alumni, faculty, staff, retirees, students, parents, and friends who purchased personalized engraved pavers (842 in all); Dan and Joan Lorenzetti; the Michigan Tech Alumni Association; Roland Huhtala ’74; and Pete ’53 and Shirley Meyers.

Your generosity has made it possible for us to create a wonderful new campus tradition—a space for past, present, and future generations to gather together, Husky strong.

If you weren’t able to join us, you can view a video of the statue’s arrival, installation, and dedication. And remember, you can visit the Huskies Plaza via webcam anytime.

Thank you again for your support… Go Huskies!
