Alumni Who Follow the Call

Dennis,
Re Cal Wacker’s query about priests, rabbis, etc, I know that the Catholic archbishop of Portland, OR is MTU grad Alexander Sample. Not too common to have a metallurgical engineer for an archbishop, I’m thinking.

Hi Dennis,
I am sure you are ready for winter to be over in South Dakota we are too, and in the south half we had hardly any snow, but since I travel north often each semester on I-29 there was enough and a blizzard every week for about a month or so and it was exceptionally cold and still is for now. At least Tech snow stays where it falls mostly, unlike here. Now we are 75 by day, 35 by night and no humidity , yet! I plan to vacation in mid-June up in Copper Harbor so the waterfalls at least should be flowing well by then. My friend wonders if we will be able to hike and how much mud will there be, oh it’ll be a typical UP spring.

About the alumni priests rabbis etc, what about nuns and religious brothers, sisters or monks? Or tried it once ? We know of Bishop Sample who is now in Portland –he may be the most famous of this small group. Who are the other 68 and where can I see the list?  Any other Benedictines out there? Let me know. On a trip back in 2009 I was amazed by the Byzantine monastery where the Jampot is, I knew the monks were around there for a while, but the monastery building, wow.Great job on the newsletter, I love it.
