The Great Outdoors

Now that the weather is warming—or, perhaps, for our alumni in warmer climes, the nice weather just keeps coming—what outdoors fun do you want to get to first?

For me, it’s disc golf. As soon as the ground is reasonably dry, I’ll be out there. If you aren’t familiar with the sport, it’s similar to ball golf in what your goal is, but you’re throwing frisbees—a special kind, yes, but they’re still frisbees. I’ve got my bag ready for the new season and everything. We have a nice, short 9-hole course right here on campus; if you’re in town and want to play, 1) I’ll come with you, and 2) it’s up by the ATDC and the mineral museum.

I’m also looking forward to cycling, kayaking, heading to the beach to draw or paint—sketching water and distant land on the horizon is cathartic for me—and being able to go out my front door without giving thought to a coat.

Let us know what you plan to do!

I had to include this photo since it was taken by one of my former coworkers and the guy on the bike is another former coworker.
