Alleged Snow

Kevin

Welcome to the newsletter.

Here in Knoxville we have about ¼” of snow I remember the winter in Houghton so we need at least 6” of snow here before I acknowledge it.

Thanks, Bill. I usually don’t bother to shovel it until it’s over 6″, so I’m with you.
Welcome Kevin

You asked for feedback from we northeastern alumni about our blizzard. I’m in southeast Connecticut, near Long Island Sound and the Rhode Island border. We got somewhere around 1-½ feet of the white stuff, drifting much deeper. Boston got far worse. Thank goodness for snow throwing machines – I’m a 1958 graduate in Metallurgical Engineering and Engineering Administration, and getting a little old to wield a shovel for anything over a couple of inches. While we get one of these Houghton style snowstorms every few years, the big difference is that this stuff will probably be gone in a couple of weeks. I recall that it was popular to count the number of consecutive days that snow fell up there. Around here the record is probably around four days. If you’re going to build snow statues, you’ve got to be quick!

Enjoy your new job. I always look forward to da Tech newsletters!
