Fundraiser in Remembrance of Craig Sytsma

You may have heard of the tragic loss of fellow alumnus Craig Sytsma (Metallurgical Engineering ’92). During the evening of July 24, he was fatally attacked by two dogs while jogging on a rural road in Lapeer County. A cancer survivor, he left behind three children (two grown sons and one fifteen-year-old daughter) and a two-year-old granddaughter. You can read a nice article about Craig at MLive.

Although we attended Tech for two simultaneous years, I was a senior and didn’t know him. However, my only brother was very good friends with Craig in later years and spoke very highly of him. Craig’s friends established a fundraiser to help defray the family’s costs. I believe many Tech alumni would be happy to donate a little to help a fellow Husky family, and maybe put the collection well over the $15K goal by the deadline of August 29.
