Cool Game Here

game
New board game.

Hi Dennis,
My dad, Larry Lankton, spent 30+ years at MTU researching, writing, and teaching Copper Country history. For the past year and a half, I have been designing a board game called Copper Country, largely inspired by my dad’s work. I’m developing the game with fellow Yooper Scott Diehl (whose parents were both professors in Tech’s geology department). Scott and I grew up together in Houghton, and even took classes at MTU while we were students at Houghton High School (before heading to U of M for college).

The game itself covers the growth and decline of the copper industry along the Keweenaw from 1840 to roughly 1920. Each player represents a different mining company (Quincy, Calumet & Hecla, etc.) and must manage their workforce wisely and build Company, Shaft, and Hoist Houses to compete to produce the most copper.

We’re planning to run a Kickstarter campaign in May or June, then manufacture and publish later in 2014. But before we can go to Kickstarter (and later during the campaign itself), we need to spread the word!

If you’d like to learn more about the game, you can visit our website: http://www.cmxgames.com or http://cc.cmxgames.com.
We were also recently featured in a Daily Mining Gazette article: http://goo.gl/svhS3v.
And I’ve attached an image of the Michigan College of Mines, one of the “Local Business” cards from our game.

Thank you for your time,
David Lankton
