Student Leadership & Involvement

Creating a Constitution

A student organization constitution should outline the basic rules for governing the organization.  It should also allow for continuity and address situations that may arise within the organization.

Student Leadership & Involvement suggests the following constitution structure for student organizations to follow:

  • Article I - Name, Insignia, and Affiliation
  • Article II - Aims and Objectives
  • Article III - Membership
  • Article IV - Officers
  • Article V - Advisor
  • Article VI - Committees
  • Article VII - Finances/Dues
  • Article VIII - Meetings
  • Article IX - Constitution
