David Lawrence

Biography

David Lawrence is Vice President for the Global Campus at Michigan Technological University. Lawrence brings more than 10 years of experience to Global Campus, along with a commitment to enhancing opportunities for nontraditional students. In his role as vice president, Lawrence provides strategic direction to develop and drive an online and continuing education strategy that will ensure the university meets nontraditional and online education needs through evolving learning modalities. His career experience spans 20 years of corporate and education, helping organizations improve their learning efforts to increase their competitiveness in the marketplace.

Lawrence will also establish and grow educational partnerships within Global Campus to help businesses attract and retain employees and grow employment in Michigan. This unique blend of academic rigor and market relevance will help employers and employees remain competitive in today's marketplace. In his role, he has responsibilities for our online graduate degrees, certificates, and continued education of industry non-degree seeking programs in Michigan and nationally.

His career started in the high-tech industry, where he worked for 15 years with partners such as IBM, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, and Cisco Systems. He holds a Masters's degree from Grand Valley State University and is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Western Michigan University.
