Why do I need to complete RCR training?

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) is an important aspect of being an effective scholar. The federal government mandates that every US university holds RCR training for graduate students and scholars.

If I need to take advanced training, do I also need to take basic training?

Yes, all graduate students need to take basic training—even if they’re also required to take advanced training.

How do I know if I have fulfilled the requirements?

Students can check their current training status on their degree completion timeline found in MyMichiganTech.

Do I need to take advanced RCR Training?

If you enrolled before Spring 2013 and are funded by an external sponsor then yes.

If you enrolled in Spring 2013 or later, then yes, regardless of funding sources.
