Larry Hermanson joined the Michigan Tech Facilities Management team in 2015. As the Director of Energy Management, Larry oversees all aspects of energy management across campus. Including utility budgeting, energy procurement, steam generation, utility distribution and energy efficiency initiatives for our 3.0 million square foot campus. Prior to Michigan Tech, Larry had a diverse career with over 20 years of experience in HVAC, construction, and industrial plant operations and maintenance. Larry has worked at iron ore and copper mining operations. He has also worked as a consultant with an A&E firm and as a project manager for a mechanical contractor. Larry is a graduate of Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Michigan licensed Professional Engineer, a Certified Energy Manager, a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Larry has two teen-age daughters and enjoys spending time out of doors. He volunteers as a firefighter/EMT with the Chassell Fire Department.
