Cluster Hire at the Interface of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Computation for Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering at Michigan Technological University invites applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions as part of the College of Engineering cluster hire. Applicants for the position must have an earned PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline. The ECE Department seeks visionary scholars who are eager to be a part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, working at the interface of the physical and digital domains. Research thrust areas of interest include a) robotics, mechatronics, cyber-physical systems, and automation, b) control of utility power systems, smart grids, and microgrids, c) sensing, signal processing, and communications for autonomous systems, d) industrial control system integration, including cybersecurity, e) autonomous systems in unstructured environments, and f) applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning to all of the above.  Successful candidates will be expected to develop externally funded research program in their area of interest while leading collaborative efforts with other faculty, engaging in both undergraduate and graduate teaching, and contributing to professional service.  For more information about the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, please contact the ECE Department Chair, Dan Fuhrmann, at fuhrmann@mtu.edu and visit our web site at https://www.mtu.edu/ece/
