Warren Peterson completed his baccalaureate degree in civil engineering in 1952. From there he spent 38 years with the Soo Line Railroad Company (now Canadian Pacific Railway), a Class I railroad. He held positions of increasing responsibility over his many years of service, with promotions to Chief Engineer in 1981, Assistant Vice President of Operations in 1985, and Vice President of Production and Operations Planning in 1986. In 1990 he accepted the position of Vice President of Development with the responsibility for development of transportation service plans, operating strategies, route rationalization, and corporate development plans.

In 1991 Mr. Peterson joined the Association of American Railroads as General Manager of the Transportation Technology Center. His responsibilities included management of operations and project scheduling covering a wide range of both standard and high speed rail vehicle and infrastructure research/performance tests. He became General Manager/Director of Marketing in 1993 assuming the additional responsibilities of both domestic and international marketing and sales. In 1995, Mr. Peterson established Transportation Consulting Services, Inc., a Colorado Corporation, serving both domestic and international rail transportation markets. He was affiliated with the American Railway Engineering Association, serving on the Board of Directors from 1982 to 1990 and as President for one year in 1987.

Warren and his wife Margaret have three adult children and eight grandchildren. They are in the process of relocating from Pueblo, Colorado to Atlanta, Georgia.
