Stephen Hicks
'83Steve Hicks has served as president and CEO of Longyear LLC, a 150-year-old privately held entrepreneurial asset management firm, since 1999. Under Hicks, Longyear's enterprise value has grown significantly without any third-party capital or cash investment by shareholders. He has been involved in more than $2 billion worth of transactions, raising capital nationally on large investor projects and purchasing companies . . .

Tom Irwin
'63, '66Throughout his career, Tom Irwin has used his Michigan Tech degrees to the utmost. He believes luck is preparation and opportunity and Mich Tech excelled at the preparation, academically and in a very congenial environment. James Trethewey
'67Switching from mechanical engineering to business worked out very well for Jim Trethewey. The Ironwood native was inspired to switch by legendary accounting professor Sam Tidwell and never looked back. Beginning his career with Copper Range, a local mining concern, he soon joined Cleveland-Cliffs (now Cliffs Resources) and advanced through management positions over the years.
