Graphic Symbols
University trademarks must be used properly, with permission, and without embellishment or distortion.
Michigan Tech's registered trademarks are "Michigan Technological University," "Michigan Tech," "MTU," "Huskies," the official University seal, the Michigan Tech logotype, the huskies seal, the huskies script, and the husky dog. Any other design, symbol, drawing, seal, word, or group of words that have become associated with the University may also function as trademarks.
Use of these symbols promotes public awareness; immediate, widespread recognition of the University, its programs, and its high standards; and consistency in the University's image.
- All institutional publications must carry a symbol or visual representation of the University. The University Relations office determines the proper use and display of these symbols. For questions about logos, contact Publications Design, Printing, and Mail Services at 487-2360.
- All publications directed to an external audience must include this statement: Michigan Technological University is an equal opportunity educational institution/equal opportunity employer.
- Any product bearing any University mark must have a license before being offered for sale. The Trademark Licensing Program of the Corporate Services Office must approve the use of symbols in commercial ventures. For commercial use and licensing, call 487-2228.

- Print-quality logos are available from Publication Design, Printing, and Mail Services in hard copy and electronic format.
Logo
The Michigan Tech logo is placed on all University internal and external communications and publications. University packages, letterhead, business cards, notepads, signs, motor vehicles, uniforms, promotional and recruiting items, and equipment must all bear the logotype.
Seal
The University seal is reserved for all Michigan Tech formal documents and official papers. The seal is also displayed on items and publications that announce, promote, or commemorate formal University functions, such as commencement.
Husky Dog
The husky dog logo and script are used to identify Michigan Tech intercollegiate sports activities, sports promotional items and publications, and athletic equipment.
