Nancy Langston (SS) authored an op-ed piece, "In Oregon, Myth Mixes With Anger," in yesterday's New York Times.

The piece deals with the militia standoff at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.

Langston's 2003 book, "Where Land and Water Meet," examined the history of Malheur and wildlife refuges in the West.

Continuous Improvement Connection

The fourth step in organizing your work area is standardize. This is where you integrate sort, store, and shine into your regular work activity.

For example, you might create guidelines, policies, or rules, make some visual aids, develop checklists, assign responsibilities, and define the frequency for checking up (daily, weekly, monthly...?).

An important detail: Don't create a standard no one will follow! Standardize is the fourth step of five on organizing your work space.
