Registration Closing for KAC 5K Walk/Run for Scholarship

Today is the last day to register for the Keweenaw Alumni and Friends Chapter 5K Walk/Run for scholarships. The event will be held Aug. 8 on the Michigan Tech Trails. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 8:30 a.m. and the run at 9 a.m. Awards will be handed out at 10 a.m.

Cost is $15 for those with a Tech Trail pass and $20 for those who need a pass (includes a discounted $5 day pass). T-shirts are included with advanced registration.

Caribbean Cuisine at Khana Khazana

Flavors from the Caribbean are on tap today at Khana Khazana in the Memorial Union Building. Serving from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the featured items are Jay's Jerk Chicken and Caribbean Sweet Potato Salad.

Bookstore to Feature Women's Business Apparel

The Campus Bookstore will sell women's business apparel this fall. Merchandise has been arriving including dress slacks and skirts, giving the campus community options for back to school and Career Day.

Rozsa's 2015/16 Season

The Rozsa Center and Visual and Performing Arts 2015/16 season presents a little something for everyone. The season includes more than 39 events, encompassing film, lectures, music, art gallery exhibitions, dance and more. From Shakespeare and ballet, to comedy and jazz, Rozsa shows will entertain all tastes and ages. The season even includes an opportunity for local young dancers to perform alongside professional ballet dancers in The Nutcracker.

Gates Parking Lot Closed for Motorcycle Class

Lot 23 (next to Gates Tennis Center) will be closed today through Sunday due to Northern Michigan University holding a motorcycle class. Plan accordingly for the lot closure.

Lake Superior Day at Copper Harbor Sunday

The beauty and bounty of Lake Superior will be celebrated Sunday at the Third Annual Lake Superior Day in Copper Harbor. Activities include a community picnic, canoe races and kayak demonstrations, interactive art, ROV demonstrations, presentation on the health of the lake, live music and poetry. From 1 - 4 p.m. there will be 40-minute excursions on the RV Agassiz. Space is limited and those interested may pre-register by calling 7-3341or email Lloyd Wescoat at lwescoat@mtu.edu. Chemistry Department Seminar Today

The Department of Chemistry is hosting a seminar at 3 p.m. today in Chem Sci 101. Katherine Heckman, a research biologist for the USDA Forest Service at the Northern Research Station, will present "Soil Organic Matter Matters: Why is there so much carbon underground?" Refreshments will be served.
