2014 Pulitzer Prize Winner John Luther Adams to Present Today
John Luther Adams was just awarded the 2014 Pulitzer for Music yesterday!
The Rosza Center is proud to host Adams as he speaks in a panel discussion at 10 a.m. in the Rozsa Lobby and for a lecture in the Rozsa Center at 7:30 p.m. The Alaskan composer will present "What Science and Art Have to Say to Each Other." Both events are free.
According to the website, the Pulitzer was "awarded to 'Become Ocean,' by John Luther Adams, premiered on June 20, 2013, by the Seattle Symphony, a haunting orchestral work that suggests a relentless tidal surge, evoking thoughts of melting polar ice and rising sea levels (Taiga Press/Theodore Front Musical Literature)."
Also on the website, the Pulitzer is awarded "for distinguished musical composition by an American that has had its first performance or recording in the United States during the year."
