Data Acquisition and Industrial Control

Enhance your degree with a minor in Data Acquisition and Industrial Control from the School of Technology, and develop a skill in high demand by employers: data collection and analysis/interpretation.

In the engineering industry, the mastery of electrical systems, computers, sensors, data acquisition software, and control systems is indispensable. Engineering graduates increase their employability with a working knowledge of not only acquiring data, but also reading the results—which is the focus of this minor. You will gain a theoretical and practical background in measurement principles; data acquisition, analysis and interpretation; and control systems analysis and design. In addition, you will be equipped to design and interpret experiments—know-how that will allow you to cross interdisciplinary lines and collaborate with other experts.

This minor is most applicable to the fields of electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, and surveying engineering.

How to Enroll in a Minor

A minor allows a student to specialize in a discipline outside their major. The student must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program before being considered for a minor program. To enroll in a minor, the student must file a Curriculum Add/Drop Form no later than the first semester of their junior year; however, it is recommended that the student enroll as early as possible in their academic career to allow for timely completion of the program.
