We’re Melting!

You know you're in mining country when you type the word Melt into the search box and everything has to do with smelting.

One (among many) memories of spring was a bike ride to Lake Linden and back. Weather was warm, the sun was out, and the water was pouring across M-26 in Ripley – an inch deep if memory serves. Had to put my feet up to avoid the spray off the wheels. Mont Ripley was melting fast!

With the rebuilt M26 in Ripley, I’ll have to go see how drainage is going this year. But there are bare patches on Mont Ripley and I’ve found all of my driveway. Melt on! -Kevin

Well, I don’t know what to do, now that the weather is warming up.

The nasty heat wave we just suffered has all but decimated the snow in Southeast Michigan.  Cross country skiing is looking tough. I will have to drive north to do anything, hopefully the snow will last another three or four weeks before I am stuck inside watching TV or something.

I can still hope that the weather won’t be all bad, and that we get a few more snows before the heat really gets tough.

Some good crust skiing still to be had up here, and with the lake still basically ice, I’m sure there’s plenty more snow to come. Though I am admittedly ready to be done with it: I want to get my kayak out already! -Kevin
