And Another One . . .

queen

Dennis,
Well that song was definitely played in the fall of ’84. I remember going to my first CH101 exam in Fisher Hall and having that song blaring out the windows of Wads Hall. Then of course also having the Chem Students at the doors of Fisher Hall passing out blank drop slips before you walked into the exam.

Ah the memories……

Hi Dennis,

I attended Tech from August of 1995 until April of 2006 and Another One Bites the Dust was alive and well in 1995 with the usual stunts:
1) chalk outlines of fallen students on the sidewalk with physical constants incorrectly written next to them (6.023×10^22 for example)

2) the Grim Reaper would stand outside after the exam and hand out drop slips

3) A staged “student” would pretend to lose it during the exam and run out of the room

4) WMTU would play Another One Bites the Dust and every student would open their windows and turn up their stereos for most of the day.

I seem to remember that it had been deemed hazing (but I never had confirmation on that) and started phasing out not too much after my freshman year. It seemed to be reduced by 2005….no idea if it still happens today. Hope this helps your quest!

Regards,
Jason Arbuckle

Dennis,
You probably have more responses on this one, but, being a freshman in 1980, I remember very well the song being blasted out of Wads as I walked across from Wads the evening of the exam….
