We offer courses, events, and activities in music, theatre, and visual arts for the campus and community. To inquire about participation or instruction in any of the following areas, please stop by our office or visit our website.

Theatre

We offer academic classes in theatre performance, design, and technology for all students. Generally, four theatre performances are scheduled in an academic year. Auditions and interviews are held for the roles and design/tech positions, usually, but not always, at the beginning of each semester. Tech Theatre, the producing company of visual and performing arts, performs new plays and contemporary, modern, and classic works. Tech Theatre participates in the annual Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival; in 2010 some fifty students attended the festival. Five interdisciplinary degrees and two minors are offered for career preparation or an avocation.

Music

We offer many opportunities to participate in music, from jazz bands specializing in different styles to the Wind Symphony, Huskies Pep Band, Concert Band, Keweenaw Symphony, and more. Minors in music are also available. The Concert Choir performs locally and also internationally on regular concert tours. Mu Beta Psi, an honorary service fraternity for men and women, supports the arts on campus and raises funds for music scholarships that are available to all students.

Visual Arts

We offer classes to all students in drawing, painting, two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, sculpture, and ceramics. We present two art shows each year, one featuring student work and one a juried regional exhibition for professional artists. We offer a minor in visual arts.
