Welcome to Michigan Tech!
The Michigan Technological University Student Planner is a handy tool providing you with a brief synopsis of programs and services that you may need while at the University. Please take a few moments to review it. I urge you to start using the daily planner today to help keep yourself on track at Michigan Tech.
I also encourage you to aggressively pursue your education by taking full advantage of all that Michigan Tech has to offer. You can do this by looking outside of your chosen curriculum and taking courses that are offered in different departments, participating in the Enterprise Program and similar opportunities, student organizations, the wide array of extracurricular activities, and simply interacting with people from different cultures, both in the US and abroad.
I hope you have an enjoyable, productive experience at Michigan Tech.
Sincerely,
Glenn D. Mroz
President
Greetings!
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Michigan Tech and what I know will be an exciting time for you. Michigan Tech has a reputation for attracting smart and adventurous students, and we are dedicated to the simple notion of educating them to be the very best.
Participating in the life of the University is essential to being the very best! You will have many opportunities to experience Michigan Tech and the Upper Peninsula. We encourage you to get involved both in and out of the classroom. Pursue a research project with a professor, undertake a community service initiative, catch the spirit with the Pep Band, or tackle the high ropes course. Get involved with the Enterprise Program, sing in the Concert Choir, check out Greek life, or become a DJ at WMTU. Ski or board Mont Ripley, join an intramural team, or immerse yourself in an arts experience.
This Student Planner has been prepared with you in mind as you begin your journey at Michigan Tech. You will find important information and a variety of resources to assist you in managing your time and obligations. I encourage you to use it daily. Congratulations—we are pleased to have you join us, and I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
With all good wishes,
Les P. Cook
