Plan: Letter of Intent Project Title:
Recruiting Graduate Students Abstract:
Becoming a national university of choice requires the visibility that
only a strong research and graduate program can bring. We propose to expand
current efforts to recruit graduate students. We will develop a on campus
visitation program for grad students similar to one piloted by the College
of Engineering. We will improve the recruiting resources including web
pages, brochures, and posters. We will develop
and pilot presentations to be used for recruiting visits at regional universities.
We will identify and bring representatives from these universities to
campus. A second phase involves improving the condition of graduate students. Some issues to be resolved are stipends, teaching loads, health care, faculty mentoring and general quality-of-life issues. The Graduate Faculty Council will act as the working group's advisory board. Project Leader
