Project Title:
Development of Molecular and Quantum Computing Curriculum Resources
Abstract:
There is a theoretical barrier in information technology which states
that many problems may never be solved efficiently no matter how fast
computers will become. However, molecular and quantum computing
may break this barrier. The former uses molecules to store and process
information while the latter, using quantum bits can store and process
both 0 and 1 simultaneously, permits quantum computers with 500 bits to
store today's largest databases. This project will bridge current
research and curriculum developments and introduce students to molecular
and quantum computing. Software tools will be created to help students
understand the fundamentals. This project's impact will provide
students with important ideas of molecular and quantum computers and prepare
future computer scientists and engineers for these new paradigms of information
technology.
