Plan: Letter of Intent Project Title:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology Abstract:
In 1997, Michigan's State Board of Education recognized the need for teaching
professionals with a technical background. A new teacher certification
endorsement in Technology and Design was created and the Industrial Arts
endorsement was redefined and named Industrial Technology. A marriage
of existing programs within the School of Technology and coursework offered
by the MTU Department of Education will lead to the development of a new
degree program in Industrial Technology. The implementation of this degree
will broaden the offerings at the University, provide yet another baccalaureate
linkage for AAS students within the School of Technology and provide the
State and Nation with a breed of teachers that are currently in severe
