Project Title:
Cross-Disciplinary Education and Research in Remote Sensing
Abstract:
The Remote Sensing Institute is a continuing successful model for interdisciplinary
research and education across the MTU campus. It encompasses three colleges
and includes topics ranging from instrument design to ecological applications
of remote sensing imagery. The focus of this proposal is programs that
will leverage our research success to recruit students and to expand both
graduate and undergraduate student opportunities in remote sensing.
Specifically we aim to:
- provide fellowship and travel support to selected graduate students
- offer opportunities for undergraduates to participate in RS research
projects
- expand course offerings in remote sensing
- bring prospective grad students to campus
- increase RSI visibility on and off campus
- expand the RSI web presence
- update RS equipment to current state-of-the-art.
