The Sponsored Programs Office can assist you in your search for sources of external funding. A significant amount of information is available on our web site. Follow the links on the navigation bar or below to learn more about each funding source. Michigan Tech's policy and procedures manual includes additional information, including treatment of funds received (other than state support).
Federal Agencies
This extensive list includes most agencies that fund scientific and other research, as well as links to their websites.
COS
This international research network includes profiles of researchers and scholars from universities, government agencies and research and development organizations. This web resource also includes expertise profiles, a database of funding opportunities, and a searchable database of research grants awarded by a number of agencies.
National Science Foundation
The NSF's FastLane is an interactive real-time system used to conduct business over the Internet. It includes search tools for current and past awards. The NSF also manages the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) program for faculty members near the beginning of their careers. Michigan Tech has had a number of Career award recipients in the last decade.
Limited Submission
Some program sponsors limit the number of applications or proposals submitted from an individual campus. In these cases, researchers must submit an internal proposal, from which candidates will be selected to submit external proposals.
Research and Fellowship Proposals
In an effort to enhance student funding and professional development, the research office and the Graduate School offer assistance to faculty and students who are interested in submitting funding proposals.
