Michigan Tech is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region. Our Statement of Affiliation Status with HLC is available to view online.
Michigan Tech has been continuously accredited since 1928. Our accreditation was reaffirmed in 2012 under the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP).
In 2013, Michigan Tech elected to move to the Open Pathway, a new pathway for institutions that have been accredited for more than 10 years. It requires that we meet the criteria for accreditation (revised by the Higher Learning Commission in 2013) through an assurance review, and complete a Quality Initiative prior to the next comprehensive evaluation in 2021-22.
