Outer Space Enterprise
"We went to Houston to fly in zero-gravity."
Darren Schaaf, electrical engineering, is working with NASA through his Aerospace Engineering Enterprise. Their nanosatellite will compare radiation data with that of Skylab in the 1970s "to see if cell phones are interferring with our communicaton with satellites."
Competing with eleven other schools, the Enterprise team has grown to 60 members, and some were able to do the zero-gravity thing. But the biggest outcome, for Darren, might be that "someone from Boeing is already considering hiring me right now. I'm sure that a big part of that is because of my involvement in the Aerospace Enterpise. It's a really great program."
