Information Technology Reorganization
Walt Milligan, CIO
June 9, 2008
After 5 months of study, discussion, and spirited debate, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be reorganized in June, 2008. The reorganization is designed to improve communication, collaboration, customer service, and efficiency.
There are several major changes. The organization will be flattened by eliminating the Department of Information Technology Services and the Director of IT Services position. Jarrod Karau, the Director of IT Services, will take over a new role directing a group of three departments which serve users outside academic units. Several departments will be re-named to better reflect their activities and responsibilities. Several departments will be combined, and several people will move from one department to another. Finally, System Administration Services will join the OIT.
