Apply Now for Summer Youth Programs

Youth Programs is accepting applications for its summer programs at its website, http://youthprograms.mtu.edu/programs.html . Last summer, approximately 1,000 students attended Summer Youth Programs from all over the United States, Puerto Rico, Norway, Korea and Canada.
Summer Youth Explorations offers dozens of one-week explorations for youth in grades 6-11 on subjects as diverse as mountaineering, painting, forensic science and video game programming. Dates are July 6-12, July 13-19, July 20-26 and July 27-Aug. 2. Live-in students receive room and board in Michigan Tech's residence halls; the cost is $625 per week. The cost for commuter students is $395 per week. In addition to an intensive look at their field of interest, a full schedule of weekend activities is available.
Women in Engineering, for female students in grades 9-11 who are talented in math and science, is held June 22-28. Students learn about careers and acquire skills in engineering from women engineers in industry and university faculty members. The program is free to accepted applicants. A $125 registration fee is required, but is refundable if the student is not accepted into the program.
Explorations in Engineering, July 6-12, targets students in grades 9-11 from groups underrepresented in engineering and science fields (minority or economically disadvantaged students). As with students in the Women in Engineering program, all accepted applicants receive a full scholarship but must submit a $125 application fee that is refundable if the student is not accepted.
The American Indian Workshop, June 29-July 2, introduces Native American students ages 12-15 to the excitement of a college education through studies in biology, computers or math while celebrating native culture. The program is supported by scholarships.
Women in Computer Science, a competitive program for grades 9-11, is an intensive investigation and discovery of computer science skills and careers. The program is supported by scholarships.
