FIRST Team Competes at National: Tech’s FIRST Robotics team returned from the Great Lakes Regional competition with the trophy for “Passing on the FIRST Torch,” recognizing the team’s efforts in high school, middle school, and elementary school outreach. The team placed 18th out of 63 at the regional.

The FIRST competition typically consists of high schoolers and engineers from corporate sponsors building robots that complete specific tasks. For the Tech team, Michigan Tech students fulfilled the “corporate engineer” role and worked with high school students from the Copper Country.
