Medical Informatics

Welcome From The Dean

Our Medical Informatics program offers students the opportunity to study and engage in research that will help transform the way healthcare is delivered in our connected, global society. The online availability of personal medical records allows healthcare professionals to provide more personalized medical care to individuals, often from a location that is more convenient to the patient. These advantages can only be realized if the sharing of patient information is done in an extremely secure manner, and using protocols that are widely accepted. Our program will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to understand the current challenges, and will prepare you to be a contributor to the new ideas and technologies that will be needed for the continuous improvement and advancement of our healthcare system.

Medical Informatics is a dynamic, growing field that must have the expertise of information technology professionals with advanced knowledge of network security, medical record information protocols, biometric screening techniques, problem solving abilities, and an innate desire to help create the next-generation approaches to technology-assisted healthcare systems.

If you feel you are up to the challenge, our faculty members are here to help you meet that challenge and prepare you for a rewarding career where you will be able to make a difference in people’s lives.
