Michigan Tech offers its students the option to earn the MMI degree online. All students are able to communicate with their professors and classmates via Michigan Tech's Canvas class management website. Labs for medical informatics graduate courses are conducted on the department's web-based virtual infrastructure. Students securely log into the VMWare V-Cloud Director architecture to access lab resources such as Apple IOS application development, wide variety of Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems, firewalls, routers, switches, and code repositories. Students are able to access the Canvas class management systems and lab virtual infrastructure anytime. Video lectures are presented or recorded by professors and posted online along with assignments, exams, quizzes, and other documents. Both traditional and non-traditional students benefit from this blended learning environment.
