Biography
Ethan Smith earned his BS from Grove City College in Pennsylvania, majoring in mathematics and philosophy. Afterwards, he moved to South Carolina, where he earned his MS and PhD in mathematical sciences from Clemson University. In the fall of 2009, he joined the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Michigan Tech as assistant professor. His specialty is number theory with an emphasis on elliptic curves and associated prime distribution problems.
Currently, Ethan is taking a leave of absence from his position at Michigan Tech in order to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre de recherches mathématiques in Montréal, Canada. He also teaches courses at Concordia University as a visiting scholar. He is looking forward to returning to Michigan Tech in the fall of 2012.
