Following his graduation from MTU, he took position with Wolverine Tube Inc (Decatur, AL) and worked there for nine years in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Engineering Management and Marketing Management positions. In 1980, he joined Detroit Center Tool (DCT), a company started by his father in 1966. DCT and its several subsidiaries conducted business in the area of manufacturing automation (robotics), automotive laser processing and welding systems, packaging, and logistics for the automotive industry.

Mr. Henderson served as Chairman of the Board for Nobel International LTD from 1997-98. He was named 1991-92 World Trader of the Year by the Detroit Chamber of Commerce, and accompanied and advised President George Bush on a trade mission to Japan in 1992. In 1994, he was listed as one of “21 for the 21st Century” as a member of the Detroit Dream Team for economic and urban development. He was named Michigan Tech’s Outstanding Young Alum in 1984. He was awarded the Michigan Tech Board of Control Silver Medal in 1992, and was named to the Michigan Tech Board of Control in 1995.

Mr. Henderson has been a generous donor to Michigan Tech, and in particular to the football program. He was inducted into the Academy of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Michigan Tech in 2000.
