Terms and Conditions referred to above:

Space Request Procedure:
  • Reservation must be made at least one week in advance of the event
  • All events must include a sign or banner with the name of the sponsor, purpose of the event and staffed by members (no more than 2 at one time) of the sponsor at all times.
  • All displays or exhibits must include a sign or banner with the name of the sponsor and puropose of the event.
Food/Drink Requirements:
  • If alcohol is to be served, Presidential approval must be sent to the library (lib-events@mtu.edu) at least 1 week prior to event
  • Removal of food/drink must be arranged with Dining Services by department/organization
General Policies:
  • Events will not be held in the library between weeks 10 and 15 of the semester
  • Space will not be held for requestor in anticipation of approval
  • Organizations must be registered with the Student Affairs office
  • Request is not final until confirmation is received from the library
  • Arrangements for set-up must be made with the library at least one week in advance of event
  • If training is needed to use the AV equipment, arrangements must be made with the library at least 24 hours prior to event. Contact lib-events@mtu.edu to arrange.
  • Changes or additions made to the original request affecting the reserved space must be communicated to the library no less than 24 hours prior to the event
  • All cancellation requests must be received by the library (lib-events@mtu.edu) at least 48 hours prior to event
  • The first violation of policies will result in a warning. A second violation of policies will result in termination of library space privileges for the remainder of the academic year
  • Department or organization is responsible for any damage to facility and/or equipment
  • Space cannot be reserved on a repeated or ongoing basis
  • No open flames allowed
  • No glue or nails permitted on the walls
  • The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items
  • All groups using library space are expected to adhere to the laws of the State of Michigan, all local and federal laws and general policies, regulations and guidelines of the library and Michigan Technological University. Failure to comply may result in forfeit of the privilege of utilizing the library.
