International Exchange Programs

Michigan Technological University has exchange agreements with many universities around the world. Here’s how it works: our degree-seeking students are able to enroll in foreign universities and receive transfer credits that can be applied to their degree work at Michigan Tech. In return, international students from these universities come to Michigan Tech on exchange, taking courses that transfer to their home institutions.

Benefits of International Exchange Programs

Because Michigan Tech has already set up a direct-exchange agreement with your school of choice, it’s more likely that your academic credit and financial aid will flawlessly transfer. You also increase the odds of being able to take those coveted upper division classes from your major.

How It Works

Stay for a semester—or a full academic year. Your Michigan Tech tuition and fees cover costs at the host university.

You're responsible for:

  • course registration
  • foreign entry requirements
  • studying the culture of your chosen country beforehand
  • paying the study abroad registration fee

You also have to arrange and cover costs for:

  • housing
  • travel and transportation
  • living expenses
  • health insurance
