Intercultural Mentor Program

Each semester new international students from different countries join Michigan Tech. Many come to the United States only days or weeks before the start of the semester.

Often they experience the following:

  • Culture Shock
  • Home Sickness
  • Loneliness
  • New Academic Environment Stress

International Programs and Services is launching an Intercultural Mentor Program to assist new international students in their adjustment to new academic environment and culture. This program involves a team of student and community volunteers who devote their time, energy and efforts to facilitate the new international students’ cultural adjustment process. The program is offered in Fall and Spring semesters.
