Please make sure that regardless of your first port of entry in the United States, your flight continues on to Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Minnesota. From Minneapolis (MSP), schedule your flight via Mesaba Airlines (Northwest Airlink) to the Houghton County Airport (CMX) in Hancock, Michigan.

- Arrive in Detroit, Michigan (DET) - connect through Minneapolis (MSP) - to Houghton (CMX)
- Arrive in New York, New York LaGuardia (LGA) - connect through Minneapolis (MSP) - to Houghton (CMX)

Flight information: International students planning travel to Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Michigan, should book refundable airline tickets through Minneapolis, Minnesota (airport code MSP) and connect via Northwest Airlink to Houghton/Hancock (airport code CMX).
This is the ONLY air link to the Houghton area at this time. Airport pick-up will be arranged ONLY for students arriving at CMX.
Travel arrangements must be made in a timely manner, EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT YET HAD YOUR VISA INTERVIEW!
Alternates include Chicago, IL or Detroit, MI to Marquette, Michigan – airport code MQT; then 2 hours by shuttle van or taxi to Houghton @ $140.
By Bus (this mode of arrival is much less convenient and could take several days)

Airport/Bus Station Pick-up
The IPS Office will arrange for airport pick- up for all new international graduate and undergraduate student only if you complete and send the Itinerary Form. Students: submit your itinerary online on your Husky Hub three (3) weeks before the required arrival date. Please include flight number, arrival date and time (at CMX), number of dependents arriving with you, date of scheduled visa interview or date visa received.
