Biography
My research and teaching focus on nineteenth and twentieth century Latin American literature and culture, including comparative approaches to Brazilian and Spanish-American studies. I am interested in exploring connections between Latin American cultural history, modern philosophy, and contemporary critical theory concerning such topics as state formation, sovereignty and democracy, the production of nature, globalization, humanism, and the status of the literary.
