WHAT IS SWEAT?
SWEAT is a free program developed as part of a comprehensive wellness initiative for benefit eligible employees at Michigan Tech. This program is designed to be flexible and geared to meet the individual needs of Michigan Tech employees by offering a wide range of physical improvement options.
Social Wellness. Reap the rewards of good mental & physical health while participating in a group activity such as skiing, Pilates, hiking or yoga. Activities vary depending on the season and availability.
Employee Action. Meet with a certified trainer to set up a personal fitness program that focuses on individual needs of any level, whether beginning a fitness program for the first time all the way to requiring advanced training for a triathlon.
Teamwork. Build a “culture of health” in your home, in your department and in your everyday life. Work with those around you to enforce a healthy lifestyle.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Eligible employees interested in the program should begin by requesting to be added to the email list by contacting Benefit Services. Events related to SWEAT will be emailed to the list and you will be notified when you are added to a new group.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS WITHIN THE PROGRAM?
An initial meeting is set up with the SWEAT coordinator to determine individual needs and goals and a program is designed especially for you. Participants may choose to be part of group activities such as hiking, biking, have one on one training sessions and learn about equipment in the gym or participate in a yoga, Pilates or similar type class. These are only some options; possibilities are endless.
Free access to the Student Development Complex is available during this time.
Exiting members receive 25% off the purchase of a minimum 3 month SDC membership and/or 25% off the purchase of an 8-punch Community Programs class specific card.
