Paid Time Off
Non-union staff, UAW, and AFSCME union staff accrue vacation. 9/10 month employees are provided annual leave. Regular faculty and coaches are not eligible. More information is available under Policies.
Sick leave is provided for personal illness/injury or to care for an eligible family member. Employees receive 13 days (104 hours) January 1st with carryover up to 60 days (480 hours). New employees and part-time employees are pro-rated. More information is available under Policies.
Paid maternity leave is available to benefits eligible birth mothers and to the primary caregiver for adoption. More information is available under Policies.
Michigan Tech observes nine paid holidays: Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and Memorial Day. Union staff receive two additional half-day holidays in lieu of a personal day. See the Payroll Services Calendars and Holidays page for specific dates.
Other Paid Time Off
Other paid time off available to employees includes Bereavement Leave, Personal Day for non-union staff, Union Education Leave, Jury Duty, and Rescue/Fire/Red Cross Duty. More information is available under Policies.
