Daniell Heights Living Guide
Telcom
The Telecommunications (Telcom) Department provides voice, data, and video services and infrastructure to all administrative and academic departments and residential housing areas. Students, staff, and faculty have access to these services. For more information online, visit the telecommunication website. If you have questions on any of the following services, please call 487-1111 or email It-help.
Internet
Michigan Tech's internet service is a campus-wide computer network that provides high-speed access to electronic resources both on campus and around the world. Students bring their own computers to campus and connect to the internet.
In Daniell Heights, the internet is on and available in every apartment. Written instructions for registering your computers for internet use are located by the telephone jack in each apartment.
Telephone Service
In Daniell Heights, you can sign up for optional telephone service by filling out an application online. There is a $25 one-time installation fee and a recurring monthly fee of $18.50. This phone service includes free local and domestic long distance calls. This means you can call any number other than those that begin “10” or “1-900” at no additional charge. Calls that would incur extra charges are blocked on all phones. Most students choose to use pre-paid calling cards, or they can sign up to use Michigan Tech’s TechConnect service, to make calls that require additional charges. To access numbers off campus from any on campus phone, you need to dial “8” first.
Television Service
Daniell Heights also provides digital television service in every apartment. This service includes over 50 channels plus the Husky Movie Vision Channel featuring 24 movies per month. You can sign up for premium channels (HBO and/or Showtime) at a cost of $9.95 per month for each channel by filling out this form.
