International Programs and Services
The Office of International Programs and Services (IPS) offers information and services to students interested in and involved in numerous study abroad opportunities throughout the world. In addition, IPS serves as a home away from home for more than six hundred international students and scholars by providing immigration counseling, advocacy, and support services to them. IPS also offers multiple cultural and educational programs, which includes informational workshops, and offers support to the Parade of Nations.

WIC
Women, Infants, Children (WIC) is a program designed to provide low-income pregnant or breast-feeding women and children under five years old with free food and nutrition education programs. For more information and income guidelines, please contact Western UP District Health Department at 482-7382 or visit them at 540 Depot Street in Hancock.

MTU Preschool
The MTU Preschool is a nonprofit, cooperative preschool serving children ages three to five. It is a fully licensed preschool, and the teachers meet all state certification requirements for early-childhood educators. It is located in the Daniell Heights Community Center. The preschool operates on two fifteen week terms beginning in September. Classes are offered both mornings and afternoons. The preschool is open to all interested families. Daniell Heights residents receive half-price tuition.

Houghton Schools
As a Daniell Heights resident, your children may attend the Houghton-Portage Township Schools. They are accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. For more information on their curriculum, special education programs, parent organizations, and extracurricular activities, contact the elementary school at 482-0456, the middle school at 482-4871, or the high school at 482-0450.
Little Huskies
Little Huskies is a private childcare facility which can accommodate up to forty children. The staff is fully licensed and provides quality childcare for children from infant to kindergarten age. The facility is located between the Student Development Complex and the Forestry Complex on MacInnes Drive. The center offers two terms beginning in August and January.

BHK
BHK is a private, nonprofit agency that offers Head Start, preschool and childcare for children ages birth to six. BHK also offers family services such as parental support, parenting classes, toy libraries, adult education/GED classes, supportive home visits, father-involvement activities, service opportunities with Superior AmeriCorps, Great Explorations after-school and summer programs for K-8 students and much more. Services are open to residents of Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw counties. Half-day preschool is offered free to children 3, 4 or 5 years old from September through May with transportation and meals provided. Full-day, full-year childcare is offered at a low cost to children 6 weeks to 6 years old. Home-based preschool options are also available.
