To apply for housing at Michigan Tech, you first must apply for admission. After your application for admission is submitted and you are accepted, you will receive a packet from Michigan Tech Admissions that will contain, among other things, your Residence Hall Application and Contract. You must complete and submit these forms to officially apply for on-campus housing at Michigan Tech.
You may also download, complete, and mail the Residence Hall Application and Contract.
Once we have received your completed Residence Hall Application and Contract, an acknowledgement email will be sent to your Michigan Tech email account.
Assignment Letter
You will be notified of your room assignment for the Fall semester by late July. Spring and Summer Semester room assignments should be received two weeks prior to the first day of class for that semester. If you submit your housing materials after these dates, you will receive your residence hall assignment when you arrive on campus.

Room Assignments
Room assignments and roommate matching are made on a first-come first-served basis depending on when we receive your housing application. You are encouraged, and it is in your best interest, to turn in your application for housing as soon as possible to increase your likelihood of getting your housing preferences. If your first housing preference is filled to capacity when your application is received, your other housing preferences will still be considered by housing staff when making a room assignment.
Room Preference Changes
Prior to the University making room assignments, you may email Housing to change your preferences of hall, roommate, or meal plan. Once room assignments are made, no further changes may be made until the Room Change process begins during the second week of classes.
All preference change requests must be made by June 1 for the Fall semester, December 1 for the Spring Semester, and April 1 for the Summer session assignments. We will make every attempt to honor these requests but cannot guarantee them due to availability.
