Housing

Incoming Students

Welcome to the Residence Halls at Michigan Technological University!

As an incoming student to Michigan Tech, housing and residential life will be an important part of your first year of school. Michigan Tech requires all first-year students, other than transfer or locally commuting students living with parents or guardians, to live in the residence halls. You will spend much of your first year outside the classroom, learning and experiencing all that Tech has to offer. Living in the residence halls will give you the chance to enjoy living on your own, meeting new people of varying backgrounds, enjoying common interests with other residents, and becoming invested in a diverse community. You may also find a study partner, head downstairs to grab a meal, or do your laundry down the hall, all within a short walk to your classes.

If you have already applied to Michigan Tech and have been accepted, you will soon receive an Action Packet that will contain information regarding your housing options. If you haven't applied yet, we hope to answer any questions you have about Michigan Tech and our housing options. Please email Housing or call 906-487-2682 with any questions or concerns you may have.

Have you applied for housing already? Visit our Check-In Procedure and Room Occupancy Schedules for more information on when and where you need to be.
